Jordan Burroughs started wrestling when he was 5 years old. When he was young his favorite wrestlers were from the WWE- Macho Man Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior. He is now 26 years old and until recently was undefeated in Freestyle International competition. Burroughs winning streak ended at 69-0.
What you may not know about Jordan is that when he is not wrestling his job is Nanny. That’s right, the Olympic Gold medal winner enjoys watching his coaches two young children. I wonder if he shows them his blast double?
Jordan wrestled at Winslow Township High School and earned a State title his senior year. Jordan went on to wrestle at Nebraska under scholarship and after having a rough start of 16-13 his freshman year, he amassed a 111-6 record his next 3 years. Jordan went undefeated his last 2 years and won the NCAA Championships both years and earned the Hodge Trophy his senior year.
After graduating from Nebraska Jordan jumped into the Freestyle International scene and went undefeated from 2009 until this month. Jordan’s win streak ended at 69-0 when he lost to Marable by a score of 4-4 (lost on criteria). During his win streak Jordan won 3 World Championships (2013 World’s was just one month after having screws surgically placed in his ankle). Burroughs was only one of four wrestlers to ever win a NCAA title and World Championship in the same year- 2011. Jordan won the Gold medal in the 2012 Olympics at 74kg. Jordan also has Pan American, World Team Trials and other prestigious titles to his record.
Jordan likes to listen to his IPod during pre match warm ups and often plays Jay-Z. Two of Jordan’s favorite things to buy are watches and shoes. When Jordan is not busy wrestling or training, he likes to play Xbox. Other than having a bunch of Gold Medals to his collection, a 69 match win streak in International competition and an unbelievable work ethic, Jordan is like any other wrestler, right?
