Kenny Dale Monday (born November 25, 1961 in Tulsa, Oklahoma) is an Olympic gold
medalist and three-time All-American wrestler from Oklahoma State University. He began
wrestling at age six at a YMCA after-school program and grew up idolizing Olympic
wrestler Wayne Wells. He is a 3X Olympian.
In 1980 Monday became Oklahoma’s first high school wrestler to win four state titles (in four different weight classes) while going undefeated. He never lost a dual from seventh grade through the end of high school and finished with a record of 140-0-1. The tie was against Mike Sheets of Tahlequah, a future two-time national champion at OSU. Monday also won five Junior Olympic titles and the 1977 Junior Nationals.
A four-time U.S. Nationals champion, Monday won major international tournaments in Russia, Turkey, France, and Bulgaria, the World Championships (1989), and the Pan American Games (1991). In 1988 he won an Olympic gold medal at Seoul, South
Korea, by defeating world champion Adlan Varaev of the Soviet Union in overtime.
Monday placed second at the 1992 Olympics at Barcelona, Spain, losing 1-0 to Park Jang-Soon of South Korea, and retired after finishing sixth at the Atlanta Games in 1996.
He is a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Nowadays, Monday is the president of BattleGrounds MMA. Helping up an coming mixed
martial artist reach their goals in professional combat sports.

When you think about these statistics and records above it is actually mind blowing to me that one person can accomplish so much on the mat. For anyone that has wrestled I’m sure you would agree that these feats that Mr. Monday accomplished are pretty extraordinary. To think that at the young age of 7th grade (approximately 12 or 13 years old) and through high school Mr. Monday never lost a dual match. That in and of itself would be impressive enough but that was Kenny just getting started. One thing about the great sport of wrestling, the saying that wrestling is a way of life and not just a sport is extremely accurate in the case of Mr. Monday.
