First round- I was interested to see if Ryan was going to keep the fight on his feet. Ryan was able to take Mike Mucitelli down at will. So this was a trap for Ryan. Mike has submitted all 8 of his professional fight opponents in the first round by having them take him down and he gets them in his guard and immediately puts a submission hold on them. I feel Ryan totally dominated the first round by taking Mike down and landing some punches. It was obvious what Mike’s game plan was for this fight–the same as the last 8 fights.
Second round- This round was a toss up in my opinion. Neither fighter separated themselves as dominating the other. There was no clear advantage by Ryan or Mike.
Third round- Ryan continued his takedowns and did not fall into the trap of covering on Mike. As stated previously, this is Mike’s game plan and I was glad to see that Ryan stuck to his fight plan. Just before the end of the round Ryan hit an awesome leg sweep and put Mike right on his back side. Again, Ryan let him get up and didn’t cover him. Somewhere during this round Mike was able to land some solid punches.
The judges score cards went as follows: unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) in favor of Mike Muticelli.
I discussed with Ryan what went right in the fight, what we need to work on and our interest in True Wrestling Insider continuing to help with Ryan’s career as a professional MMA fighter. I have no doubt knowing Ryan and his work ethic, he will put in the work necessary to continue his dreams of being at the top.
